On behalf of the organizing committee, we are thrilled to invite you to attend the 4th African Regional Conference on Geosynthetics -GeoAfrica 2023, to be held in Cairo,Egypt from 20 to 23 February, 2023. We are eager to host this important event and look forward to regional and international participation from manufactures, academics, consultants, contractors, and project owners. The main aim of the conference is to engage regional and international experts in the fi elds of development, manufacturing, and application of geosynthetics to raise awareness on technical advances, opportunities and future prospects in the fi eld. With the rapid growth and mega construction activities in Africa, and Egypt in particular, geosynthetics have great potential for serving market need. Projects including major expansions of highways and railroads in challenging soil conditions, new cities and urban centers, industrial and commercial zones, ports, tank farms, irrigation infrastructures, landfi lls, mine tailings, and major utilities have seen extensive use of geosynthetic products in various applications. We have therefore chosen the conference theme to be “Geosynthetics in Sustainable Infrastructures and Mega Projects”. The event shall be held at Cairo Marriott Hotel in Zamalek district along the river Nile. The conference will provide keynote lectures, technical sessions, and panel discussions on diverse topics. Participants shall have the opportunity to exchange experiences, participate in joint activities and build bridges of knowledge. In addition, social activities will be organized including gala dinner and a site trip for one of the ongoing mega projects in Egypt. The proceedings of the conference will be published online with open access. The conference will provide awards for best papers, best presentations, and best industrial project.
